I found it’s difficult to work with the person who has not good first impression.
The first impression means:
- How to talk to others
- How to think about his/her career
- How to laugh
- What he/she are learning
and most engineers have their github account, and the public activities are really useful.
You can see how he/she communicates with others in his/her casual style(not in formal style.)
This is really helpful when you hire someone.
The code he/she wrote is also really important, of course.
I acctually tried this employment style, but my boss-like person refused my judgement. And he was wrong, in fact.
Most Japanese companies might make the same kind of mistakes like him.
I hope they learn and find this ASAP.
